With a good turnout for the May Smartphone SIG meeting, we continued viewing the next two segments of the new smartphone short course recently purchased by the Club, and showed some phone images taken by members. The course segments dealt with the resident camera app in both an older model of iPhone and a Samsung Android phone, touching on all features. The instructor challenged viewers to use each of the features until understanding the functionality and to become familiar enough to know how to use it when the opportunity presents.

The group present felt it was worth meeting, as long as interest persisted, throughout the summer. We will not return to the video course until the fall and repeat the very important segments viewed in May at that time. During the summer, the SIG will turn to individual topics unrelated to the video course.

For the scheduled June 12 meeting at 9am in the Topaz Room, we'll:

  1. Respond to questions from May re: the challenge to learn all the camera app features of your phone
  2. Discuss low-angle smartphone photography, dovetailing with the Club's monthly assignment, which will be discussed by Mark Guinn in more general terms the previous Friday during Open Studio (see Club calendar). I'll show a video to illustrate the technique. As a prelude, please read the article at: https://iphonephotographyschool.com/low-angle/. We can take a few minutes to practice in the Arts & Crafts Center courtyard.
  1. As usual, if you have some phone pix to share, either that you are proud of or demonstrating some feature of your phone, please bring them as a JPG file on a flash drive or send them to me at brucehale.bah@gmail.com
