Helping you take your Photography to the next level
The El Rio Preserve, 10190 Coachline in Marana is an excellent site for photographing birds. There should be large numbers of waterfowl, as well as Egrets, Herons, and desert scrub birds including sparrows and flycatchers.
This event should provide beginners a nice introduction to bird photography, as well as an opportunity for more advanced photographers to capture some great bird images. While some of the birds are fairly close, a telephoto lens (at least 300-400mm, more magnification if you have it) would be best. Also, if you have a spotting scope and have been wanting to try out digiscoping El Rio would be ideal.
We will plan to meet at the usual spot in the Mountainview parking lot at 9:00 AM, perhaps a little later if the weather is cold, and car pool from there. It's about a 35 minute drive to the preserve. Plan to spend 2-3 hours there.
