Helping you take your Photography to the next level
“If you get a high out of seeing and photographing the dynamic energy of ocean waves crashing against cliffs, the roar of a waterfall plunging over rock, or the elegance of reflected light in a river, then you won't want to miss this presentation! Join professional outdoor photographer and writer, Colleen Miniuk, for this informational and enlightening talk aimed at helping you make a splash with your water-related photography. Attendees will learn how to:
• Stay safe and (mostly) dry when photographing water (especially in your foreground).
• Control your exposure to freeze or blur motion.
• Utilize filters to help manage your exposure times.
• Work in a variety of lighting conditions including sunny and overcast.
• Convey motion with “cheats” when filters aren't available or practical.”
About Colleen:
“After a 10-year stint as a software engineer, Colleen Miniuk fled the grey cubicle walls to pursue a more colorful, meaningful life as a full-time photographer, author, publisher, instructor, speaker, stand-up paddleboarder, and river rafter. She’s served three terms as an Artist-in-Residence in Acadia National Park, Maine, after which, she published one of her many photography guidebooks (“Photographing Acadia National Park”) and redirected her photography and writings on water in the West. In 2015, she fell off her SUP in a rapid on the Colorado River and fell in love with the river despite a lifelong fear of water. When she’s not paddling or chasing bubbles, she writes the “Dear Bubbles” online advice column and leads photography workshops, women’s photography retreats (called Sheography™), and online presentations for camera clubs, outdoor organizations, and private clients across the U.S.”
